Take the impressive and fast TGV train through the heart of France, past Auxerre and the sprawling vineyards of Burgundy to the Rhône Valley. In the afternoon, see the UNESCO World Heritage Roman aquaduct Pont du Gard before continuing on to Avignon. Later, your orientation of Avignon includes views of the impressive Palace of the Popes and the ruined bridge straddling the River Rhône, which inspired the famous French song, 'sur le pont d’Avignon'. This morning a scenic drive brings you to Arles – one time home of Vincent Van Gogh. Marvel at the Roman Amphitheatre and Romanesque cathedral during your sightseeing and walking tour of Arles with an expert Local Guide. Then travel through the Provençal countryside and the southern part of the Luberon to your memorable Be My Guest lunch in a beautiful 'bastide' set among the vineyards. Traverse scenic hills to the coast and the glitzy resort of St. Tropez. The playground of the rich and famous, St. Tropez is where Brigitte Bardot was 'discovered'. Take the alpine route along the Col de la Croix to Lyon, France's second largest city. Journey via the vineyards of Macon and Beaune to Paris. Stop in Beaune where there is plenty of time to shop for souvenirs.
